iOS 10

Jailbreaking is becoming more and more popular as each iOS version is released. Perhaps this is because Apple is trying so hard to stop it and each jailbreak that comes out is received with even more relief than the last, relief that the jailbreak teams have found a way through. We know that Apple hates jailbreaking and we now that they will do everything they can to stop it, despite the fact that it was ruled legal in 2015, even if only for the next three years , till 2018.

Because of the speed with which the Cupertino company rattles out updates, patching jailbreaks, many users are finding it hard to keep up. When Apple releases a new iOS version, they stop signing the previous one after a short while, making it impossible for user who upgraded to go backwards to a time when they could jailbreak.

At some time or other, you have probably heard of or been asked to save your SHSH blobs. There is a good reason for this , when Apple stops signing a firmware, they stop giving us SHSH blobs for that firmware – these blobs are what allow a user to downgrade and, without them, you can’t, it’s as simple as that.

Many of you will be familiar with the name, TinyUmbrella, a tool that lets you save SHSH blobs so that you can downgrade in the future. These blobs would be used to make a version of the firmware that was already signed, thus allowing you to use it as often as you needed to. The bad news is, for a long while, TinyUmbrella stopped working because Apple managed to close up the security hole that let users make use of saved blobs.

The first piece of good news is, you can still save your SHSH blobs, and you should do so, in case a way is ever found to make use of them again The second piece of good news is that the developer of TinyUmbrella has now updated the utility for iOS 10 firmware [ext link] users so you can put your saved SHSH blobs to good use. This is perfect for regular jailbreakers who are constantly updating to the latest jailbreak tool or who can’t be without a jailbreak and have to downgrade to get one.
